24/11/18: Bryn Amman vs Skewen

On Saturday the 24th November Skewen RFC travelled to Bryn Amman

From the start it was a game of error, mistake and penalties with the whistle being the most prominent feature. Very little constructive play was made or allowed to be made, indeed it was in the 40th minute that first and only points of the half were scored this being a penalty to Bryn Amman

The second half fared little better. The stop start nature of the game saw very few scoring chances, a lot of defence from both sides and an inordinate number of breakdowns and slow ball. Skewen were able to gain some territorial advantage but this was often wasted with attacking situations given away by mistake and penalty.

The only further scores of the game were 3 penalties by outside half Sion King on the 5th ,25th and 35th minute.

Another win on the road but, as in all previous games, there was little to write home about. For long periods of the game, Skewen were unable to control the pace and possession. A number of unforced errors and the inability to clear their line saw Skewen being forced into a series of energy sapping defensive plays to keep Bryn Amman at bay. As the game progressed Skewen developed in confidence using their possession and territorial advantage to better effect but ended up giving their advantage away.

The positives to be taken forward, good attacking display by Full back Gareth Morris who had to leave the filed in the first half with an ankle injury, and a solid set piece .
